Qantas Business Class Lounge, Melbourne:

Improvision Design recently collaborated on a refined business class lounge space for Qantas in Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport. The newly renovated luxury lounge for domestic travellers sees a huge expansion on the previous space where Business Class passengers are treated to an environment that epitomises urban luxury. As is synonymous with the Qantas brand, the emphasis in the design was on unrivalled comfort, sophistication, convenience and style.

CIRCULAR & HORIZONTAL FLUTED SEATING

Designed by Woods Bagot, the open nature of the luxurious space takes full advantage of the floor to ceiling windows where travellers can watch the world go by whilst enjoying a little slice of luxury. The choice of seating perfectly complements the user-led design by creating a variety of divided spaces for travellers to enjoy. With a multitude of seating options for over 300 guests, the clever design considers the clientele utilising the space on a daily basis. This can be seen notably in the extensive variety of comfortable seating options from the high bench-style chairs to the sociable circular banquettes.

Improvision’s fluted banquette seating, in the Ascona finish from Pelle Leather, draws together the intent for the central lounge hub by cleverly segmenting the space whilst maintaining the light and airy flow. The soft and supple aniline leather Improvision utilised in the banquette seating is manufactured from the best quality full grain materials. Due to this high quality the upholstery retains its natural surface texture which made it an obvious choice for Qantas’ stylish lounge space. The tobacco coloured upholstery on the circular and horizontal fluted seating combined with integrated planters and brass-finish lighting overhead are stand out features in the vast space. The use of banquette seating allows guests flexibility to utilise the space as desired. From a group wishing to sit together and socialise, a travelling couple wanting quiet down time or a high-flying professional taking an important business call, everyone has been considered.

The high-end product Improvision Design contributed to Melbourne’s brand new aero lounge is a versatile addition to the open plan space maintaining an inclusive whilst also private atmosphere for Qantas’ esteemed guests. Combined with Neil Perry’s Asian Spice Bar, a Quench hydration station, the signature Gin Cocktail, agile working area, a multitude of connectivity points and state-of-the-art end of trip facilities passengers can basque in the supreme comfort of the space. The resulting environment is a slice of chic, urban luxury which takes its design intent from the eclectic and energetic city of Melbourne.
